Measurement in table games

There is a huge variety of table games in which measures are the base, some of them exist since years ago, but others are more recent, but equally fun.

1st Tangram

This is a game that has a set of pieces that can be ordered in many ways, following a patron or creating a new one. Depending on the way the figures are placed, they show different objects, animals, etc. Children find this game very interesting because they have to discover the “hidden” figures just with their imagination, logic and visual thinking.

2nd Tetris

A very popular game that consists on placing the different “falling” figures in the correct order so we can eliminate one or more rows before the amount of figures reaches the top of the screen. This is very interesting for children because they develop the visual thinking, using the time as a challenge for them.

Evolution of measurement tools

During our History there had been different measurement tools depending on the materials and necessities that society had in each moment. At first the human body was used as a reference, but this came with a problem, everyone had a different length, so it was not a standardized measure of unit. An example of these units is the length measurement units such as the inch or the foot.

Afterwards there was recognized the necessity of unifying the measurement units in order to be able to have the same tool as instruments, and the International Measurement System was created. This was a huge advance in the metric area as there was now a standardized measurement system.
An example of this is the metric system used nowadays.

This is a very interesting video showing different measurement tools and their evolution towards our actual measurement system.
