Conclusions

Measurement is an aspect of mathematics that has to be taught in all stages of Primary Education, starting with simple notions and examples such as non-conventional and the Metric System, or the time and monetary units. With the development of students’ abilities these concepts are dealt more in-depth and with some operations and estimations to obtain results.

More or less the same happens with statistics and probability, although these two concepts are carried out more in the higher years of Primary Education, combined with a lot of visual information.

As we have seen, there are many examples and activities in which these elements appear ant that are different ways of showing and teaching measurement, statistics and probability. It is very important that we fuse theoretical knowledge with games, curiosities or practical activities in order to achieve a good learning.

Have fun and mathematics everywhere!

Online games to practice probability

1st  The vile vendor
In this game there are several drinks in a machine and the game asks questions related to the probability of getting a certain drink. There are five options regarding the grade of possibility of a drink. This game can be used in higher grades.

2nd The slushy sludger

This game is very similar to the previous one, but in this case the election is between three options and it is a bit easier. It can be useful for second cycle students to practice with these concepts.

3rd Probability pond
This is a very complete game in which there are many options to choose according to the level of the player, from easy concepts and very visual to fractions that are more complex. After choosing the option there are several fireflies with different colours and some questions related to their quantity.
